With the radiofrequency fractional heating, what you're doing is more accurately placing the heat in deep with normal zones of collagen around it. So you're basically heating up an area, ensuring safety by having normal tissue around it and then heating up again, and you pattern such that there is enough normal skin, or normal dermis, for healing, and then you have the areas of higher energy deposition which lead to enough thermal injury to get the tightening that we desire.
