Interesting insights form the ASAPS 2015 Statistics on Cosmetic Surgery: Americans spent more than 13.5 billion on combined surgical and nonsurgical procedures in 2015. Nonsurgical procedures are up 22% with, and combined surgical and nonsurgical procedures are up 20% compared to last year’s data. Cosmetic procedures have increased by 39% over the past five years (from 2011) with surgical procedures up 17% and nonsurgical procedures up 44%! Among the procedures with the most significant increases between 2014 and 2015 are Nonsurgical Skin Tightening (up 58%) and Tattoo Removal (up 39%).

While practice revenues in 2015 remained on par with previous years, over 80% of respondents expect practice revenues to increase in 2016. In addition, 74% believe profit margins will also rise in the coming year.

Among the most popular procedures are: Body Shaping/Skin Tightening, Hair Removal, Fractional Skin Rejuvenation and Tattoo Removal. "Through 2019, total male market sales are expected to rise by 11.4% per year, on average, to exceed $1 billion. In all segments covered in this report, sales growth is expected to be higher than with female procedures, as men comprise a growing proportion of aesthetic procedures".

According to recent surveys, approximately one fourth to one third of women ages 35 to 65 years say that the aging facial features that bother them most are a double chin, a sagging jawline, or a so-called “turkey neck” — excess skin under the chin and jaw, which may include platysmal banding (“weakening” of the tissue bands of platysma muscle in the neck and face).
